By now the hacker Gary McKinnon could have been well on his way to serving around sixty years in a maximum security facility in the US, but after all of the appeals and counter appeals it took a word from the Home Secretary, Alan Johnson, to put a halt to the proceedings.
It looked like a done deal that Gary McKinnon would be extradited to the US, where he would face charges for allegedly hacking into the US Defence system, including the Pentagon.
This was at a time when the network should have been at its highest level of security.
But now it seems that there could be a chance that the extradition may not take place at all, as the Home Secretary has given lawyers time to investigate McKinnon’s medical report.
It is well known that he suffers from Asperger’s Syndrome.
