CCC sounds alarm over prison computer hacking

The state corruption watchdog has raised concerns about a spate of unauthorised computer use by Department of Corrective Services officials. A former prison officer from Bandyup Prison has been charged with several offences relating to alleged unlawful use of a restricted-access computer system and disclosing information from it.

Aliso Viejo-based 3Tera, a developer of cloud computing services and software, is being acquired by CA, CA announced today. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. According to CA, it will use the acquisition to expand its portfolio of solutions to manage cloud computing.

Fire chief drops $90k computer request

Norwood Fire Chief Mike Howard has withdrawn his request for $90,200 to replace 20 computer workstations at the firehouse and has agreed with the $29,000 budget set by the town’s Computer/IT Director Mark Redlich for the fiscal year 2011 budget. Howard and Redlich met last week and discussed the discrepancies between the two proposed budgets.

Sony Computer Entertainment changes name

The change comes in Japan as Sony integrates its gaming, mobile and personal computer divisions under the leadership of Kaz Hirai. The change comes into effect from April 1st. However the regional divisions Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE), Sony Computer Entertainment Japan (SCEJ) and Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) will not be changing their names.
