The change comes in Japan as Sony integrates its gaming, mobile and personal computer divisions under the leadership of Kaz Hirai.
The change comes into effect from April 1st.
However the regional divisions Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE), Sony Computer Entertainment Japan (SCEJ) and Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) will not be changing their names.
“This is a rather complicated manoeuvre involving the legal entity SCEI in Japan. It has no effect on any regional HQ. SCEA, SCEE etc are totally unaffected,” Sony told MCVUK.
