Quanta Computer invests in UK-based Toumaz Holdings

Quanta Computer has taken a 1% stake in Toumaz Holdings, a UK-based developer of wireless communication solutions for medical applications, according to the British company. Quanta has confirmed the investment. Toumaz Holdings is pioneering low cost, ultra-low power wireless infrastructure for sensory applications in a wide range of markets including medical monitoring.

Computer receiving charges dropped

Charges have been dropped against the last accused in the Operation Wizard computer theft and receiving ring broken by the police in Christchurch last May. Seven people have pleaded guilty to the theft, receiving, and conspiracy charges involving a total of about 100 computers and 80 complainants.

No charges in Toronto computer scandal

After nearly five years of investigation Ontario Provincial Police have decided not to lay charges into Toronto’s computer-leasing scandal. “The OPP conducted a comprehensive investigation. They have concluded that there are no reasonable grounds to lay any criminal charges,” said OPP Insp. Dave Ross in a statement released Monday.

No Five HD on Freeview before 2012

Ofcom has revealed that Five HD will not arrive on Freeview before 2012 after the broadcaster failed to submit a launch date or programming schedule. Last June, the media regulator reached a provisional decision to reserve capacity for Five on the new Freeview HD platform, with the aim of Five HD becoming available in 2010.
