When police arrived at Terrell Cressman’s home in East Rockhill, they asked him if he knew why they were there, records indicate.
He nodded toward his computer and replied, “Because of the child pornography,” according to a criminal complaint.
The 20-year-old from the 2000 block of Hill Road was right.
Cressman now stands accused of 32 counts of sexual abuse of children for allegedly possessing 32 child pornography files on a computer and external hard drive police seized from his residence.
Cressman was released on $10,000 unsecured bail Thursday following an arraignment before District Judge Charles W. Baum and now awaits an Aug. 9 preliminary hearing, records indicate.
Cressman admitted to searching out and downloading child pornography from the Internet, according to an affidavit of probable cause.
While under questioning from police, Cressman admitted to having seven to 10 movie files and about 20 pictures depicting child pornography on his computer, said records.
Cressman defined a child as someone younger than 13, police said.
An Internet-based investigation initiated by Jeffrey A. Cummins of the New Britain Township police department led authorities to Cressman, a criminal complaint indicates.
Working undercover online, Cummins made contact with a computer that hosted child pornography files that were being made available to others to download and view – file sharing, said records.
Cummins ultimately traced the computer’s Internet Protocol address back to Cressman’s home in East Rockhill.
Pennridge police, which cover East Rockhill, became involved and Detective Daryl Lewis was part of the investigation, records said.
Cressman is accused of possessing the child pornography between May 16, 2009 and July 2, 2009.
Charges were filed against Cressman Wednesday following a forensic examination of Cressman’s computer by the Attorney General’s Computer Forensic Unit.
